Scheme Details
The proposed scheme is the provision of 117 new, affordable homes within the garden village of New Earswick, on JRHT land north of Willow Bank.
The main area of development is on the west side of the site with approximately a third of the site dedicated to green open recreational space on the east.
To ease traffic from the new development, we will be building two junctions to surrounding roads.
The design of the houses reflects the look and materials of the original village that was built by Joseph Rowntree around 1904 so the scheme uses brick walls and clay tiles along with traditional hip roof forms and some front facing gables with arched doorways and brick detail with front garden hedgerows boundaries.
There is a mix of 2 and 3-bed houses and 1 and 2-bed flats
Some new pathways will link the site to the secondary school and to Willow Bank
Most of the homes will be situated within Cul-de-Sacs to provide areas of low car usage providing pedestrian priority linking through to a wider cross site pedestrian and cycling route, leading to the main area of green public open space.
Parking for residents will be mainly on the street with at least one parking space per house and visitor spaces distributed around the site.
Estimated Completion Houses ready for phased occupation from 2025 to 2028
