In December, we celebrated the first round of winners for the JRHT Values Champions recognition scheme, celebrating individuals and teams who exemplify the organisation’s core values in their work and the community.

From showing we care, building trust and making a real difference, these champions are a testament to JRHT’s mission of creating meaningful impact.

The Winners

We Show We Care: Paula Horton, Asset Programme Analyst from JRHT, and the leaders of Mindfulness Minds (formerly Mindfulness Rocks York), Lisa Lewington and Sophie Addison Harper.

We Are Built on Trust: Sarah Jones, Communications and Engagement Lead; Connor Lambert, Digital Inclusion and Accessible Information Officer from JRHT; and Nik Milner, resident, Chair of the JRHT Scrutiny Panel and leader of the Victoria Geldof Residents Group.

We Make a Difference: Fran Dalgreen, Repairs Co-ordinator from JRHT, and Fran Charnock, resident and volunteer at Hartfields.

As the new year began, we caught up with a few winners to learn more about what this recognition means to them.

Lisa and Sophie: Leaders of Mindfulness Minds and winners of the We Show We Care Award

How did you feel when you found out you had won this award?

Lisa: "Overwhelmed. It was a complete surprise as we didn’t know the group had nominated us."

Sophie: "So excited!"

What does winning the "We Show We Care" Award mean to you?

Lisa: "It means the world to me. When Ali, the previous organiser of Mindfulness Minds, announced she was leaving, I couldn’t let it end. The group had become such a meaningful part of my week. With Sophie’s help, we’ve kept it going and made it even stronger."

Sophie: "I love the group. We get so much out of it ourselves, and it’s wonderful to see how much others enjoy it too. It’s a real community."

What drives your commitment to helping others within the community?

Lisa: "I love planning activities and seeing everyone’s creativity shine. We’ve created some amazing things together."

Sophie: "I’m driven by seeing the enjoyment others get from what we do. That’s what motivates me."

Connor Lambert: Digital Inclusion and Accessible Information Officer and winner of the We Are Built on Trust Award

How did you feel when you found out you had won this award?

"I was honoured, touched, and very proud. The recognition of the work Sarah Jones and I did on the “In your community" exercise was incredibly rewarding. It was a monumental team effort and a positive challenge to be part of."

What does winning the "We Are Built on Trust" Award mean to you?

"It reflects the way I strive to conduct myself and the trust placed in me by colleagues and residents. It also highlights the importance of the work we did last summer to strengthen connections between staff and the community."

What drives your commitment to making a difference?

"I’m motivated by making genuine, meaningful differences in people’s lives. Whether supporting colleagues or engaging with residents, the positive feedback I receive inspires me to do even more."
