The JRHT Values Champions recognition scheme celebrates individuals and groups who make a meaningful impact in their communities, embodying JRHT’s core values: We are built on trust, We show we care, and We make a difference.

We are Built on Trust – Nik Milner, resident and Chair of the JRHT Scrutiny Panel

One of the recent recipients is Nik Milner, a dedicated resident and Chair of the JRHT Scrutiny Panel, who was named a Values Champion in the We Are Built on Trust category. His commitment to community engagement and advocacy for social housing has made a lasting impact.

When asked how he felt upon receiving the award, Nik admitted to being "shocked and a little bit embarrassed." He emphasised that his efforts are never about personal reward, making the recognition an unexpected but appreciated honour.

"It meant a lot that someone considered me worthy of a nomination. But I couldn’t do any of this without the support of our community." Nik said.

Nik’s dedication to making a difference is deeply rooted in his upbringing. "Social values and equality were a big part of my life growing up. I’ve always seen the importance of building community spirit and working with others because it takes a community to achieve something," he explained.

As a passionate advocate for social housing, Nik encourages others to engage with their communities and take advantage of opportunities provided by JRHT. "It’s good to know that anyone can get involved, no matter how big or small their contribution is." he added.

In a generous gesture, Nik has requested that the proceeds of his award be split between two charities close to his heart: Bell Farm Food Bank, which provides essential food and household items to those in financial hardship, and the Salvation Army, which supports individuals experiencing homelessness.

We Make a Difference – Fran Dalgreen, Repairs Coordinator at JRHT

Another recipient of a JRHT Values Champions award is Fran Dalgreen, who won in the We make a difference category for her dedication to supporting both residents and colleagues.

When asked how she felt about receiving the award, Fran shared: "I was quite taken aback and humbled. Everyone within our 'work family' makes a difference. I didn’t feel like my contribution was anything out of the ordinary—I just helped out with something that I had some background knowledge in."

Winning the We Make a Difference award reinforced Fran’s sense of purpose. "I feel valued—but to be honest, I already did."

Her commitment to making a difference is driven by her passion for assisting and supporting colleagues and residents to achieve positive outcomes. "I aim to simplify processes where possible, making them more understandable for others and encouraging communication. I see my work as a way of repaying the support and understanding I receive from my colleagues in all departments."
