In a heartfelt celebration at Hartrigg Oaks, over 50 residents and guests gathered to mark the unveiling of the 25th Anniversary Quilt - a vibrant symbol of community, creativity, and collaboration. The event also marked the official launch of The Quilt Book, which now accompanies the beautifully crafted quilted wall hanging on display.

Sue Cooke, the visionary behind the project, shared her joy at the culmination of months of effort: “Each square tells a unique story about what makes Hartrigg Oaks special to us. It has been a true pleasure to work on this project with fellow residents.”

She also praised Sheila Heckels for her “outstanding work” in assembling the book, which features photographs of all 59 decorated squares alongside personal reflections on the inspiration behind each design.

Special thanks to the White Rose Quilters - Janice, Lis, and Kate—whose expert guidance and support were instrumental in bringing this remarkable project to life.

During the event, Liz Scurfield, Chair of Hartrigg Oaks Residents Committee, highlighted one particularly meaningful square: “Let me draw your attention to Square No. 43: Friendship and Care,” she read aloud the embroidered words. “I chose these words because they reflect what is, and always should be, at the heart of our community - Friendship and Care. Those two words say it all.”

The celebration was more than just a showcase of artistic accomplishment; it was a reflection of the deep sense of togetherness that defines life at Hartrigg Oaks.

The quilt and book will serve as lasting tributes to the love, care, and creativity shared among the residents.
