We are proud to announce the latest winners of JRHT Values Champions Awards, recognising individuals who go above and beyond to live our values every day.

From staying calm in a crisis to leading community change, these champions show us it is possible when compassion, trust and purpose guide our actions.

Every one of them has made a real and lasting difference. Let’s meet the Champions and hear their incredible stories.

We Show We Care

Carole Hawksby, Sheltered Scheme Manager at Heslington Court

Carole doesn’t just clock in—she shows up with heart. Whether comforting residents late at night or wading into floodwater at 3am to help someone in distress, Carole’s commitment goes way beyond her role. Her constant care makes residents feel safe, seen, and supported.

Billie Yockney & Amy Somerville – Asset and Sales Officer & Retrofit Programme Manager

Billie and Amy led a major solar panel audit for JRHT - Billie has driven the project with meticulous attention - auditing systems, managing data, and resolving technical issues, while Amy brought her expertise and energy to ensure progress continued at pace. In the future, this work will boost efficiency, support residents, and help future-proof JRHT’s green energy work.

We Are Built on Trust

Alan Deaton, Facilities Support Assistant

When a medical emergency happened outside the Folk Hall, Alan stepped up. He stayed with an injured resident for nearly two hours, offering comfort and calm reassurance. His kindness didn’t stop there—he continues to be a trusted, steady presence in the community.

Geoff Bunce, Resident and Chair, New Earswick Residents Forum

Geoff is the heartbeat of New Earswick—organising events, rallying support, and is the DJ at the children’s Christmas party! His passion, positivity, and the  care he shows for the community are impossible to miss. He leads with integrity and brings JRHT values to life.

We Make a Difference

Adam Warren, Landscapes Manager

Adam has brought fresh energy and a real impact to JRHT’s shared outdoor spaces. Leading a team with vision and enthusiasm, he has responded to resident feedback, improved standards in communal areas, and built a stronger, greener future through sustainable landscape management.

Georgina Pike, Housing Officer

Georgina is the kind of person who just gets things done. Whether it’s emergency repairs or mentoring colleagues with grace, she always puts people first. Her calm and care in tough moments uplifting others makes her an invaluable part of the JRHT Housing Team.

Jon Reeton, Resident, Member of JRHT Scrutiny Panel and other resident groups

From scrutiny panels to grassroots projects, Jon is everywhere - listening, leading, and shaping services for the better. His generosity and dedication have made a powerful difference across JRHT communities for many years.
