There are lots of reasons why damp and mould could occur in homes. These include:
- moisture in the air
- faults with plumbing and ventilation
- problems with the building.

If you bought your home through our shared ownership scheme, please contact our Customer Access Team, who will be able check your lease agreement and confirm your and JRHT’s responsibilities on damp and mould.
What to expect once you've reported damp or mould
Once you’ve made a report, the following steps will be taken:
- we'll schedule a surveyor to visit your home
- the surveyor will assess the issue, including checking insulation and tests for dampness, humidity, and temperature to identify the underlying cause
- any required repairs will be managed by the Property Services team
- our team or a contractor will handle the work
- within 3-6 months of the repairs, a team member will contact you to ensure the issue has improved
- if the problem continues, a surveyor will conduct additional inspections and take further steps if needed.
